Khutbah on establishing the religion

Given in Aldana street: 24/04/09

After Khutbatil Haajah..

For verily every Muslim whether male or female, good or evil, or upon the Sunnah or other than it seeks to establish this religion and have it as the most powerful in the land. This is because this religion is the religion of truth, the religion of Tawheed, the religion of the Prophets and the Messengers, the religion of justice, the religion og unity and brotherhood and guidance . Allah has said: “He is the one who has sent his Messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth to conquer all religions and Allah is enough as a witness.”

Know Oh Muslims that Allah has not left anything out of his book. And he has made clear the way toward establishing the religion and making it firm upon the earth, for those who want it, with clarity. Allah has said in his book: “Allah has promised those who believe from you and do righteous deeds that he would make you inherit the earth as those before them inherited the earth and he would establish the religion that he is pleased with firmly on the earth and he will replace their fears with safety. They worship me and don’t associate partners with me.”

Allah has promised us that this inheritance of the earth, meaning to inheriti it after the righteous, and establishment of the religion, and safety of the Muslims never comes except with establishing the oneness of Allah and obidience to him and obidence to the Messenger . For Imaan and the oneness of Allah come with knowledge and good deeds are those deeds which go in congruence with the book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger . And the Messenger of Allah has mentioned in an authentic Hadeeth which showed the reasons for the weakness of the Muslims because of their deviating from the Shari’ah and their love for the Dunya said: “Allah will put humiliation over you, he will not lift it until you return to your religion.”

Yes, Return, for returning to what the Messenger of Allah was upon and his companions is the way to power and establishment of the religion. And to this Imam Malik said: “The last of this Ummah will not be rectified except by which the first of this ummah was rectified by.” And the one who is sucessful is the one who follows the way of the ancient ones (referring to the companions of the Messenger )

Second Khutbah:

Upon us Oh Muslims is to reflect on this verse and look at our condition with it. . And it is upon us to know that the power is with Allah alone. Allah hqas said: “Whomsoever wants power then Allah has all the power.” And Allah said: “And Allah has the power and his Messenger and the believers but the hypocrites do not know.” And Allah has made it Haraam for us to seek power from other than him like the way of the Hypocrites. Allah has said: “Do they wish for power from them then the power is with Allah only.” There is no power when one goes against the Shari’ah. There is no power in revolutions or fighting the Muslim rulers or democracy or elections. And not by innovations or partisanship that seperates the religion and makes the Muslims into groups and parties.

Power for the Muslims is only with obidience to Allah and worshipping him alone and obidience to the Messenger . And establishing the religion is through obidience of Allah and his Messenger . It isn’t by entering parliament and other than it. Therefore it is upon every Muslim to start with himself and submit totally to Allah and to worship him has one and to obey the Messenger and to make the book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger as a judge in his life. And he has to place emphasis on his family and his Masjid so that this good would spread. For there is no establishment of the religion on the earth until we establish it within ourselves and there is no inheritance of the earth got us unless we do good deeds that go according to the Shari’ah. Allah said: “Allah doesn’t change a people unless they change what is within themselves.”

Khutbah on Knowledge

Delivered in Aldana street Masjid 03/04/09 by Myself (Musa Millington)

Indeed all the praises is due to Allah, we praise him and we seek his assistance and forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves and our bad deeds, whoever Allah guides there is none that can misguide him and whoever is leads astray there is none that can guide him, and I bear witness there is no God other than Allah, He has no partners, and I bear witness that Muhammad is his servant and messenger.

O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared. And die not except in a state of Islam. {Al-Imran:102}

O mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women and fear Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allâh is Ever an All Watcher over you. {An-Nisa’:1}

O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allah and fear Him, and speak (always) the truth. He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger (SAW) he has indeed achieved a great achievement. {Al-Ahzaab:70&71}]

For verily the best of speech is the book of Allah and the best of guidance is the guidance of the Messenger . And beware of newly invented matters for every newly invented matter is a Bid’ah and every Bid’ah is misguidance and all misguidance is in the hellfire.

Oh people, fear Allah and he will teach you what you don’t know. For verily this knowledge, knowledge of the Shari’ah is the most virtuous of knowledge, it is better than all the secular knowledge which people run after. How can it not be the most virtuous of all types of knowledge when our Lord has said: “Allah has borne witness that there is nothing worthy of worship but him and the angels and the people of knowledge, he maintains his creation with justice, there is nothing worthy of worship but him the all powerful the all wise.” And he said in his book also: “Allah raises those who believe amongst you those who have knowledge in levels.” And he has ordered his Prophet to seek increase in it. Allah has said: “Say (o Muhammad) my Lord increase me in knowledge.”

Yes, and whomsoever Allah wants good for he does not give him wealth or authority rather he gives him beneficial knowledge. Imam Al Bukhari has narrated in his Saheeh on the authority of Mu’aawiyah who said I heard the Messenger say: “Whomsoever Allah wants good for he makes him understand the religion.” What is better than knowing your Lord, knowing his attributes and actions, and his rights upon us and our rights upon him. And what is better than knowing the religion of Islam by which we worship Allah, and knowing what Allah has made lawful and unlawful. And also what is better than knowing the Messenger , the Messenger that was sent to all of mankind as a warner and giver of glad tidings. For whomsoever follows him has been guided and whomsoever opposes him is misguided.

He has also said in a Hadeeth narrated in Saheeh Al Bukhari: “The Ulama are the inheritors of the Prophets, for the Prophets didn’t leave a Deenar or a Dirham, rather they left knowledge as inheritance, and whomsoever takes hold of it he has taken hold of something great.” By Allah, many of us await the death of our parents in order to inherit their money and wealth. Rather we may even compete for this and kill each other for it. But knowledge has more value than this. Hence, why don’t we seek to learn Islam in the Masjid. And why don’t we try to read the Qur’an and the Ahadeeth of the Messenger and work hard to understand both? And verily this knowledge is easy for whomsoever Allah makes it easy for. Allah said: “And we have made the Qur’an easy to remember, is there anyone who will remember it?”

And the Messenger said: “The world and what is within it is cursed except for the rememberance of Allah and what is like it. A scholar and a student.” Listen Oh people. Our Prophet , the one who didn’t speak from his desires but rather by revelation. The one who fulfilled his trust, advised the Ummah and struggled for Allah a true struggle has informed us that the World and what is within it is cursed, all of it. For verily when a man strives for nobility or authority or land and other than this his striving is in futility and misguidance. For verily many waste their time and their lives chasing behind this world with it and what is within it being cursed. And as for the one who spends his time seeking beneficial knowledge and good deeds then Allah doesn’t render futile the actions of those who do good.

And know Oh Muslims that this knowledge is the religion. It is that which guides to the straight path and saves us from the path of those who have earned Allah’s wrath and those who are astray. As for those who have earned Allah’s wrath then they are the Jews who were given knowledge but it didn’t benefit them. And as for the ones who are astray they are the Christians who act without knowledge. For it is upon us Oh Muslims to act upon our knowledge. For knowledge is like a tree and actions are like the fruit. And there is no use for a tree that bears no fruit.

Second Khutbah:

In a Hadeeth narrated in Sunan Tirmidhi the Prophet said: Whomsoever goes upon a way seeking knowledge Allah will make it easy for him to go to the paradise. And a people do not congregate in a house from the houses of Allah to read the book of Allah and learn it between themselves except that peace descends upon them, mercy encompasses them, the angels cover them and Allah remembers them with those who are in his company.”

For whomsoever wishes to enter Jannah easily then it is upon him to seek knowledge, And whomsoever wants that peace descends upon him, and it is something that many try to find but they are unable to find it, upon him is knowledge, and if one wishes for Allah’s mercy then upon him is knowledge, and whomsoever wants to be in the company of the angels then upon him is knowledge, and whomsoever wishes that Allah mentions him in his company then upon him is knowledge and the circles of knowledge in the Masjid.

And beware, beware of turning away from knowledge and the circles of knowledge. Allah has said: And whomsoever turns away from my remember then he has a life of sadness and we bring him out on the day of judgement blind.” And Allah said: “And who is more oppresive than the one who is reminded about the signs of Allah and turns away from it.” For verily turning away from knowledge blinds the hearts that are within the chests. And it brings about sadness for him in the Dunya and the Aakhira. It also destroys him and drowns him in the darknesses of Shirk, innovation and sin. For how many have turned away from knowledge and they are unable to keep away from these three things? We ask why is it that they cannot have safety from these things? It is because they deserve the anger of Allah by leaving their religion (which is knowledge).

And Imam Al Bukhari has narrated that the Prophet saw three people who came to his talk. One of them saw a space then sat, the other sat behind the circle and the last one turned away. Then the Prophet said: “Should I give you news about these three, as for the first he leaned to Allah so Allah leaned to him, as for the second he was shy so Allah was shy from him and as for the third he turned away therefore Allah turned away from him.”

Alhamdu Lillah.

Khutbah about the Messenger (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam)

After Khutbah Al Haajah:

Allah has blessed us with sending Muhammad (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam). He is the intemediary between Allah and his creation in delivering the message (which Allah gave him). And from what is specific to him is that he was sent to Allah of Mankind. Allah has said: “Say (O Muhammad) Oh people verily I am the Messenger of Allah to all of you”. And he has said in a Hadeeth that is agreed upon by Imam Al Bukhari and Imam Muslim: “And I was sent to all of mankind”. And he is the last of the Prophets sent to mankind, therefore there is no Prophet after him. Allah has said: “Muhammad is not the father of any of your men but he is the Messenger of Allah and the final of the Prophets”. And the Messenger of Allah (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) has said: “There will be thirty liars after me, all of them will say that he is a Prophet and there is no Prophet after me”.

And he is the best of examples for whomsoever wishes to meet Allah and the last day. Allh has said: “There is in the Messenger of Allah the best of examples”. He was the best of examples in calling the people to Islam. Firstly, he called his people toward Tawheed and pleaded with them to leave off making Shirk with the creation (by worshipping them). He therefore started his da’wah with this matter because it is the greatest and most important matter according to Allah. Allah has said: “Verily Shirk is the greatest of all oppresion”. And Allah does not forgive those who have made Shirk with him and he has made the Jannah Haraam for those who have made Shirk with him.

And when the people of Shirk got angry and made fun of his religion what did he do? Did he kill them or fight war with them? Did he leave Makkah at first? No, rather he stayed in Makkah for 13 years calling toward Tawheed and being patient with the insults and lies of the people. Allah has said about him: “And if you were cruel and harsh hearted they would have ran away from you”. And he didn’t make Hijrah (emigration to Madinah) until they decided to kill him.

He then made Hijrah to Madinah and when he entered he made the Muhajireen and Ansaar brothers and sisters in Islam. He also nurtured them upon knowledge and action upon it and thereby they became the best of people after him. He was merciful and loving with the best of manners.

He was the greatest of examples in fighting Jihaad, He never used to fight anyone by surprising them,. Rather, first and foremost, he called them to single out Allah in worship. And when the two parties met on the battle field he was always on the front- line. He never killed women, children or the elderly. And he used to order his companions to not spare them.

He was the best of examples in his home and in secret. The Messenger of Allah (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The best of you are the best to his family”. He was loving to his family and merciful to his wives. He acted upon the statement of Allah: “O ye who believe safeguard yourselves and your family from the fire”. He used to teach them what is good and warn them against the evil.

Furthermore, he used to engage in prayer at the last third of the night and said (to Aisha) : “Shouldn’t I be a thankful slave?”. He never walked upon the earth with arrogance but rather he used to lower his wing to the believers. And he used to rely upon Allah with true reliance and he never was disturbed by what Allah destined for him because he knew that nothing would happen except if Allah willed it.

Oh Muslims, it is upon us to take this man as an example. For he is the Imam of all the Prophets and Muslims. It is upon us to follow him in secret and in the open by establishing Islam in public and in private. Unfortunately, some people establish Islam in the public but if they are with their family, their women and their children they do not put interest in them and treat them with the worst of treatment. And Allah’s help is sought.

Therefore fear Allah in secret and in the open. One of the Salaf has said pertaining to this: Do not be a friend of Allah in the open and be an enemy of his in secret. Also, a Muslim should not be an enemy of Allah’s in the open but he should fear him with true fear by doing what he has told us, staying away from what he has forbidden and not passing the bounds he has set for us.

The second Khutbah

Allah has said: “Say (O Muhammad) if you’ll love Allah then follow me and Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, and Allah is the oft forgiving”. This verse shows the true love we should have for the Messenger (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) and is called the verse of examination by the scholars. The verse clearly shows that  loving him means to obey him.

Therefore if your obedience to him is complete in secret and in the open then one has truly loved the Messenger (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam). And if his obedience is incomplete then his love is not complete. Verily, love for the Messenger (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) is not shown by celebrating his birthday, saying that he is living after he has died, or saying that he knows the unseen. Rather loving him is displayed by following him and having the utmost respect for his Sunnah.

The Messenger of Allah (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) has said: “No one of you truly believes until I am more loved to him than his parents, his children and all of mankind”. And this Hadeeth means that the Muslim puts his statement in front of the statement of everyone, whomsoever it may be. And the Muslim also puts the Messenger’s statements above his desires. He has said: “No one of you truly believes until his desire submits to what I have come with”.

Therefore, whomsoever puts his desires in either speech or action above obeying the speech of the Messenger (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) and following him in his actions and then claims that he loves the Messenger (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) then his claim is false.

And as a poet has said:

“And if your love was true you would have followed him

For verily the one who loves someone follows him”

Khutbah on Women

A Reminder for our Believing Women
- By Aboo Zaynab Tawfeeq Ibn Hosley

Overview :

This is a lecture that should put the heart of every woman at ease. Though the life of a woman in Islaam may seem difficult to some who have no knowledge, or insight, Allaah Has promised Paradise for His righteous servants.

——————
The brother starts the sermon with – Khutbatul-Haajah -

Today’s Khutbah is a reminder for myself and everyone else who is sitting here and all those who may hear about this khutbah and i.e. the prohibition of Ikhtilaaq – of freely mixing between male and female. Al Islaam has placed before us the ways to reduce the temptations of the fitnah of Nisaah and that is this ikhtilaaq (is freely mixing between a man and a woman) — a woman mixing with a man who does not have a mahram and this is prohibited in Islaam. This is the ways that destroys the society and this is the reason why we are going to speak about this today because it is the women who build the society. When you look at the society of today, we see that the women, they are amongst the people that are destroying the society. Because the strongest evidence that prohibits this mixing between men and women when Allaah Azzawajal says in Kitaab al-Azeez i.e. the Quraan :

“Allaah tabarak wa ta’ala commands the women to stay in their houses and He prohibits them from making this dazzling display of themselves.”

Why did Allaah tabarak wa ta’ala inform us thus? Why did He encourage them and command them to stay in their houses? It is because they will not be molested and they stay in their houses and remember Allaah subhana wa ta’ala and they will be protected in their houses. So that they can be protected from all of the evils that occur when they leave their house.

Yes, when we look at this ayat, look at today’s society na’am when you go and buy airline tickets, whom do you see? except women.

When you go to the bank, whom do you see? except women.

When you want to buy a car, whom do you see? except women.

When you want to pay your electricity bill / gas bill whom do you see? except women.

Na’am, they are the ones who are destroying the society. They are the ones who are allowing the destruction of the society. It is because we don’t want to listen to the guidance of Allaah subhana wa ta’ala. Because if you listen to the guidance and heed the guidance and implement the guidance and disseminate this guidance amongst the people we will be amongst the people who are successful.

Na’am the above ayah is about what? It is about women staying in their houses. Staying in their houses and not making a dazzling display of themselves.

When Allaah tabarak wa ta’ala says : “Ask them from behind the hijab.” Why??

Why? Because when you ask them from behind the hijab it is better and it will conceal the disease of that person that is asking. Like the words of the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam : It will conceal, it will protect them from their disease because they don’t see them.

And the other ayat that proceeds this is :
And when the women speak from behind the hijab they are not going to speak to try and tempt you or allure you or attract you to that temptation. But because we are far away from the guidance of Allaah subhana wa ta’ala and we want to be on something that is not right.

Na’m when we talk on the telephone and we want to ask about a brother : “is he home?” We want to get all personal with his wife : “How are you doing? I heard you were sick. How are the children?”

This is not the place for you to be asking her. You should ask her husband when he returns and you catch him and you are able to talk to him.

That is why the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam told to ask from behind the Hijab so that it can protect her.

The wives of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam were knowledgeable in that community, not like our wives. They do not know even know how to perform their salaah properly.

First of all look at our children. That is why keep them in their house.

When you keep them in the house the children will benefit. Not like today when the children come to the Masjid, when they see the other Muslims (elders) they don’t give the salams. The hadith : the one who is riding should give salams to the one who is walking. The one who is walking gives salams to the one sitting and the one who has small amounts give it to the ones with larger amounts and the youngsters give salams to those who are older in age.”

How come our youngsters don’t initiate the salams with the ones older in age? It is because our women are not in the house, teaching the kids the Book of Allaah and the sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. It is because the women, the wives of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam were commanded them to stay in their house and to recite kitaab ul-Hikmah. What is Kitab-ual-Hikmah? It is the Book of Allah subhana wa ta’ala and the sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. The wives of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam did this. They didn’t read some Greek Aristotle’s. They didn’t recite anything that would keep them away from the remembrance of Allah. They are going to remember Allaah.

They are going to remember Allaah by reciting that which He sent down and implementing that which He sent down. Likewise we need to teach our children. Now, how can we teach our children if the woman is outside the home always?

They don’t know. Kids don’t know, we have to teach it to them.

When the husband comes home from a hard days work what is the first thing she (the wife) does? How would she know to attend to his needs if the woman is not at home to receive her husband?

We are not here to entertain anyone. This is Yawm-ul-Jummah. If you come to Yawm-ul-Jummah it is obligatory upon you all to know the etiquettes. This is not to entertain anyone or any of the children. It is there to remove some of the diseases that reside in the hearts and to benefit from the reminder so that we can implement it in our life-styles.

So what is it when the women stay outside of their houses? She’s not like that the woman. When her husband comes home after a hard days work, the first thing she would do after she gives you salams is to take off your shoes. She gives him something to drink. She comforts him. She wants to know how his day was at work. She asks him if there is anything that she could get him.

She has his clothes ready for the next day by ironing them etc. So that when the children see this they know that when the daughters get married they are going to treat their husbands exactly like that or better than that. Because they are witnessing the guidance of Allaah in their hearts. Not like our children. We don’t teach them anything and the cause is because our women are outside their house.

When they are outside the house, they don’t know the Shaitan, he beautifies them. “I don’t care if you are wearing all black, he beautifies you. So much that if there is disease in his heart or anyone else that black is going to look good for him. And he will say that he wants someone just like that. The lady he sees is wearing nothing but black and he can’t see anything except the eyes may be uncovered. Now, you want to see the eyes. When you look her in the eyes, now you are finished. Because the disease is just coming out. That is why we have to teach our women that when they come out for something that is a necessity, they must take care of that business and get back into their house.

Not like the women of these days in time. Because the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said that the whole body of a woman is her private part. He didn’t make no exceptions. He didn’t say except her face and hands, he didn’t say except her feet, except her eyes. He said the whole body of a woman is her awrah.

Not like our women, when they come out they don’t know about the guidance of Allaah. The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam prohibited the women from walking in the middle of the streets and when you tell them, they don’t want to adhere to that. They want to adhere to their passing desires. “I ain’t walking in the sides of the street.”

When the sahabiyaats were walking in the middle of the streets the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said: “Draw back now. Draw back and walk in the sides of the roads and don’t walk in the middle of the roads. ” So much so that when the walking their body was scratching against the wall because they were adhering to the guidance of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

I command all of you to follow the guidance of Allah, to follow that has been revealed to the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

So we have to know that if the woman comes out, even if you are taking her and you are driving and she is sitting in the car with you, it is best for the woman to sit at the back instead in front. And it is best she doesn’t speak unless there is a need for her to speak. Because when she speaks and she is controlling the conversation and you have a friend in the car, what does that do except produce some disease that may reside in your heart, that may stay in the heart. And you may start thinking something bad and it starts rusting may be that her voice may have attracted you. We don’t think about that. When there is no need she shouldn’t talk. Why? Because the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said : “Shyness doesn’t come except with goodness.” Let her not speak unless there is a necessity since her voice may attract a non-mahram man.

When I was growing up years ago, the women used to wear skirts and long dresses. They didn’t wear pants because they felt shy to wear pants. But now they have no shyness. They have gone from skirts and long dresses to wearing pants. And when they used to wear skirts and long dresses and they needed to bow down or bend down to pick up something, they used to do it with modesty. But now the bend down to pick up something wearing pants, with no modesty, exposing it all so much so that the people around them would be affected.

Know that the woman, they need to stay in their house and teach our children. So that they wont lure and tempt us. Because every single place you go you have a woman right in front of your face. The airport, the market place, the cashier, the register clerk in the hospital, when you go to pay your gas bill, your water bill. Every place you name it they have a woman right in front of your face.

And how many of us want to go to a store and buy something now because we saw a beautiful woman walking. Apparently she is beautiful? But in actuality she is not beautiful. So much so that even if a woman is wearing all black they want to have some type of fashion with it. Why black? Because it is the purpose that it serves, it is supposed to turn us away from them. But now like other sisters they wear all black and they want to wear red with it. A red hand bag and red shoes !!!

Before we entered Islaam that was the furthest thing that turned us away. We went far away from this as this didn’t look good.

The woman is a fitnah so protect her. If you protect her you protect the society, you protect your children and without a doubt you are protecting yourself. Because when you come home from a hard days work she will take off your shoes and socks and will give you something to drink. Your children are going to do the same thing. You are teaching them how to be obedient to your husband. How to treat your husband, so much that when she is about nine years of age she knows majority of the things as to how to please her husband, how to stay with her husband, how to call her husband, how to be obedient to the husband, to help one another in good and righteousness and not help one another in sin and transgression.

So we have to learn and we have to teach our women to stay in their houses and don’t come out except when it is necessary for them to come out.

——————
Part 2

The importance of this khutbah is what? To protect ourselves and our women because the women make up the society. Majority of men is where? In prison. Majority of men are drug addicts but you have an abundance of women out there. Like in Egypt 16 million people in the main city and 85% or 90% are unmarried and the dowry is sky high. So what does that produce except homosexuality. That is what it is going to produce because the men can’t get married. These days we don’t have the Imaan like the Imaan of Imaam Ahmed Rahimullaah. He didn’t even get married until he was 40 years of age; na’m why?? Because he was busy with seeking knowledge. Seeking knowledge so much so that even when he went to Makkah and he was with Yahya Ibn Muaid Rahimullah he told him that after his Hajj he wanted to go to Yemen so that he could meet up and take knowledge from Imaam San’aali. Na’m today we have a Sheikh Muqbil bin Hadi rahimullah a Muhaddith in Yemen and we don’t even teach our children about him. So that when it is summer we don’t put them in the day care and your wife says: “I have saved up all the money that you have given me and I would like you to take off from your job and take my children up to Yemen so that they can benefit from the Sheikh before he dies.” We aren’t thinking like that.

Every single time you come to the Masjid the woman is right there too as though it is obligatory for her to make salaah in the Masjid. You take her to a place like this. We say the Masjid is packed and the men can’t get in there and there is no place and it is not obligatory for the woman to come to the Masjid. For whom is it obligatory? It is obligatory for the men who are responsible to perform Yawm al Jummah in the Masjid. But our women every single time there is a class or something or Yawm al Jummah, they are at the doorsteps or the doorways of the Masjids so much so that when it is time to make Salaah and you come late she makes Salah outside the door where everyone else is praying. She doesn’t know “Shyness doesn’t come except with goodness.”

If your not eligible to make salaah why do you have to come to the Masjid? Why?

When I was a Kaafir I used to be ashamed to go to the store to buy those personal things for my mother. I used to hide it in everything else. Now you got the best thing you want to let everybody know. You go to the Masjid and don’t pray you want everybody to know because you are facing the direction the brothers come in. You tell me that this ain’t temptation. I don’t care if she is wearing all black, a man can go through that, a man is weak, a woman you have to caress her to get her into the mood to be intimate but a man he gets excited and is mesmerized easily. Go to the airport, the bus stop, the gal who is driving the bus you see the woman right in front of you. They have so much of the finest women in front of us and you tell me that this ain’t gonna change us? All of a sudden we want to buy that ticket because we want to stand in her face.

Likewise our Muslim women want to be outside doing the same thing. So my reminder to all of us is what? If the woman comes outside let her adhere to the guidance of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. Because during the time of Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam they had two different doors, a door for the woman to go in and a door for the man to go in but it didn’t stop there. The women knew that the front line is the worst row for the woman and the worst row for the men is the last row.

When the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam finished making his salaah he was sitting in the direction he was praying so that he gave the women enough time to leave. Last month when I did that, one of the brothers said : “You are supposed to turn around right now.” So I had to explain that the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam and the sahabas did that to give the women enough time to leave. But now a days even if you do that the woman is still standing in the doorway.

So I ask all of you’ll to protect your wives, to protect your children. Keep them inside their houses except when there is a need for them to come out. And when they are in the house command them to remember Allaah subhana wa ta’ala and to raise the children upon the obedience of Allah subhana wa ta’ala and don’t be amongst the people who don’t raise them on the obedience of Allah subhana wa ta’ala.

Importance of Salaat

Know Oh believing men and women that Allah has made the Prayer compulsory upon every one of you. Allah has said : “And they have not been ordered except to worship Allah alone without any partner, staying away from Shirk and to establish the Prayer and to give the poor Due.”

This verse shows that Allah alone is to be worshipped. All worship should be directed to Allah alone without making partners with him and this is from the fundamentals of this religion. And Allah’s saying : “And staying away from Shirk.” meaning not making partners with Allah in worship and disassociating oneself from its people. Therefore O Muslims it is upon you to direct all worship to Allah alone without any partner. As Muslims we should not make du’a to other than Allah or ask help from other than Allah in matters which only Allah is capable of giving help and whoever does this ( i.e make du’a to other than Allah etc) he has commited Shirk and has become a Mushrik and a Kaafir. Because he/she has associated with Allah another creature in worship. Hence O Muslims stay away from making du’a to the dead from the Prophets (alaihim as salaam) and the righteous and to the Jinn and direct all worship to Allah alone.

And after this Allah has ordered us to establish the prayer. As this is being good to Allah, And he has ordered us to give the Zakaah which is goodness to the Creation.

And know that Prayer is from amongst the 5 Pillars of islam. And the Islam of a person is not proper unless he practises the five Pillars. The Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Islam is built upon five Pillars. Bearing testimony that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is his Prophet, and to establish the Salaat…” For the Testimony means that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah and that one should worship Allah upon the way of Prophet Muhammad Salallahu alaihi wa sallam. And the meaning of establishing the prayer is to establish it with its condition ( e.g Wuduu),and its pillars (e.g rukuu and sujuud) and what is compulsory in it (like saying Rabbana Laka Al Hamd), with Humility in the Salaat (meaning not moving around and looking right and left). And he put Salaat after the Shahadah because of its importance. And because it is what connects a slave and his Lord. And it has many benefits to be gained from it if done properly which include:

1)Prayer erases sins (Except for the major sins) Allah has said : “And establish the prayer during the day and night, verily good deeds erase bad deeds” And this verse was sent down when a man came to the Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) and informed him that he kissed a woman.

And on the authority of Abu Hurairah Radiallaho anhu the Prophet Salallahu alaihi wa sallam said “The five daily prayers and from one Jum’ah to the next Juma’ah erases sins for what is between them for whoever does not do a major sin.” Narrated by Imam Muslim

2)It prevents a person from evil and Shameless acts.

Allah has said: “Verily Prayer prevents Shameless and evil deeds.” Shaikh Abdur Rahmaan As Sa’di said : “And Salaat preventing a person from doing evil and shameless deeds means that if one establishes it with its pillars and conditions with humility in the prayer his heart will be purified and filled with light, and his eman will increase, and his desire to do good and stay away from evil will increase.”

And the Prophet Salallahu alaihi wa sallam has said : “And prayer is light” The Scholar Ibn Daqeeq Al ‘Eed said : And as for the Prophet’s (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) saying “And Salaat is light” it means that it prevents sin and shameless actions and guides to the truth as how a light is used to guide (through the darkness)

Hence look at yourselves may Allah have mercy upon us all. Did we do any sins from the big sins? Has our desire to do good fallen? If it is so look at your Salaat. We must also ask ourselves if we are praying according to the Sunnah of the Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) and if we have made Wuduu properly and if we have made Rukuu’ and Sujuud properly and if we have done some of the Sunnah in the Salaat like raising the hands before and after Rukuu and if we were conscious of what we were doing and saying during the salaat.Make sure and ask yourself these questions.

And it is upon the men to pray in the mosques in congregation. Allah has said: “And establish the Salaat and give the Zakaat and bow with those who bow.” Also the Muadhin says when he is calling the Adhan, “Come to Prayer” and he says this twice. So what is the benefit of the Muadhin saying come to prayer in congregation and praying in congregation is not compulsory?

And in a hadeeth narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah Radiallaho anhu, A blind man came to the Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) and told him that he did not have a person to carry him to the mosque so do I have persmission to pray in my house”? The Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Did you hear the Adhaan”. He said: “yes” The he (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said : “Then answer it”.

And know that staying away from Salaat in congregation is from the descriptions of the Hypocrites. Allah said about them : “Verily the hypocrites try to deceive Allah and he deceives them and when they go to establish the Salaat they establish it in a lazy manner”. And Allah has said: “And Woe to the ones who pray. Those who are forgetfull about their prayer”. Hence it is upon us to establish the Prayer with out fellow Muslims and to not delay it. As for the women their houses are better for them. The Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Do not prevent your women from the Mosques. But their houses are better for them.”

And Abdullah Ibn Mas’uud Radiallaho anhu said: We used to see those who used to stay away from Salaat in congregation as hypocrites whose hypocricy was known.

Oh Muslims safeguard your prayers so that Allah may have mercy upon you. Whoever establishes it according to how it supposed to be established he will be succesful. Allah has said: “The believers have been succesful, those who are humble in their prayer” And whomsoever does not establish it properly or at all he is a loser in this world and the Hereafter.

Allah has said: “And those after them stopped establishing the Salaat properly and started to follow their desires.” Allah has given news that the one who does not establish the Salaat is a follower of his/her desires. Imam As Sa’de said: “Hence their goal is to run towards their desires, and they put this over the rights of Allah, and from this they started to not give Allah the rest of his rights including the prayer and started to follow their desires, whenever and however they get it they relish it, and in whichever manner they get it they take it (their desires)

And the Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The first thing that a slave will be judged for on the day of judgement from his actions is his prayer, if it is good, then he has become succesfull, and if not then he has become a loser. And if his compulsory prayer is lacking Allah will say :”Look to see if my slave has done extra prayer” and it will complete what was lacking in the compulsory prayers, and the rest of his actions would be upon this.”

Second Khutba (after sitting)

The Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said within a long hadeeth: “When Allah wants to take people out of the fire by his Mercy, he will tell the angels to take out those who did not worship others with Allah, for whoever Allah wishes to have mercy upon from the people who saud La Ilaha ill Allah would be known in the fire. They would be known by their prostration marks, the fire eats everything from the children of Adam except their prostration marks, and Allah has made it Haraam for the fire to eat the prostration marks, hence they would be taken out from the fire and they would be charred, and then the water from the river of Hayaa will be put on him, and he will be taken out of it like how a seed is taken out by waves.”

This hadeeth shows:

1)Some Muslims will be in the hell fire because of what they did of big sins and the fact that they did not repent from them before they died.

2)That these same Muslims would be taken out of the fire because they declared that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah and practised this by not making partners with him in worship.

3)That these people who are taken out of the fire would be known as Muslims because of their prostration marks on their feet and knees and hands and faces, And it is feared that those that call themselves Muslims and do not pray would not be recognised as Muslims in the herafter because of the absence of the prostration marks which is a sign that one has prayed.

Therefore O Muslims fear Allah and look at what you have put forward for the day of judgement and do not think that you can put forward nothing and get something out of it. As it was narrated from the Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) : “The clever one is the one who practised his religion and worked for what is after death and the foolosh one is the one who followed his desires and looks for safety from Allah,”

And Allah knows best
