The scene
Well I met one of my close brothers today in Nur-E-Islam after Isha tonight. Although we didn’t get much time to talk Alhamdu lillah he looked like everything is cool and what not. He also suggested that I should re-apply again to the University of Madinah. However, personally after all the run-around I am not really too anxious to do that. And I just said Qadarallahu Ma Shaa Fa3l you know.
Well earlier today I heard from an unamed Khateeb in Nur-E-Islam today who was talking about extremism. Then he went on a tangent and said that there are some people who call themselves Salafi. Worst yet he accused them of calling people innovators (which is true for those who deserved to be called thus) and Kuffar (which is untrue). And tell people that they have to wear long gowns and grow a long beard (untrue again). So I spoke to him after the Khutbah and told him all these things are untrue. I also asked him why he singled out the Salafis and he didn’t give me a definite answer.
And I ask the readers:
Why didn’t he speak about the Shia who call all the companions Kuffar except for 7?
Why didn’t he speak about the Sufis who make Tawwaf around the graves and make Du’a to other than Allah?
Why didn’t he speak about the Ikhwan Al Muslimeen who have extremism in politics and have secret organizations?
Why didn’t he speak about the Hard-Core die-hard Madhabists who have extremism in their love for the Imam of their Madhab?
Why did he choose the Salafis in particular on this topic?
And at the end of the day he said that he meant some Salafis and not all Salafis. I told him simply that that wasn’t made clear to the people and when they think Salafi they look at the brothers pushing the Qur’an and the Sunnah in the Masjid. In any case I will quote an Ayah in Surah Taubah where Allah said: “They want to extinguish the light of Allah by their speech but Allah refuses except to complete his light even if the Kuffar refuse”. And this is the same case with the people of innovation. And by Allah the light of the Qur’an and the Sunnah will shine throughout Trinidad and Tobago and it will take down all innovations, innovators and those who want to dress the truth with falsehood to the people.
In the Khutbah he also said: “We are not Salafis, we are not Wahhabis and we are not Usuulis”.
Now in the first case if you saying that people are not Salafi it means that they do not follow the Salaf. Therefore everyone is on a destroyed path if a Muslim cannot follow the Salaf
Wahhabi is a derogative name given to those who follow Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab by the British for those who follow the path of the Salaf.
As for Usuuli that is another case.
Allah Musta’aan how many people study Islam and Allah didn’t give them the understanding of the fundamentals of the religion. The Prophet (Salallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever Allah wishes good for he makes him understand the religion”. Not get a certificate from university thus and so.
Worse than that he said: “You are a Salafi I am a Muslim” I asked him if a Muslim says: I am a Muslim following the Qur’an and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf is that wrong? He said: No that is not hated.
So I say it simply means that calling oneself Salafi is not a problem!! And the sad thing is that his own Shaikhs who taught him said different.
And Allah’s help is sought in this. By Allah the likes of him would have to answer on the day of judgment for the nonsense he said on that Minbar.
Also the scene is I am starting some classes with some brothers on Fridays after Asr. And pray for it inshallah to be something beneficial to the people because they need it. It can be a great chance to show true Islam to people and spread the Da’wah as far as possible. The opportunity is golden and we have to take it. And I am asking all of you to make du’a for me and for the Da’wah to spread. Because I really feel after all what has happened to me this is what I was destined to do.
Role Models
In class today had a discussion with these young boys who I teach Spanish to. Speaking about role models. And plenty of them they like 50 cents and Tupac and the rest of these punks. So I outlined it for them. I said look these are the people you see as role-models?:
1) Those who are criminals or were known to be criminals.
2) Those who do not conduct themselves in a proper manner walking like if their leg is broken or something of the sort.
3) Those who were known for disrespecting women in their Music.
And furthermore they didn’t change their lives and rise above their environment. Rather they have made many degenerated, fatherless youths become menaces of the society.
Then I asked them you know Malcolm X? All of them except one was like no. I told them a bit about Malcolm X and how he was a criminal and then changed his life. And how he was a person of integrity and truth who stood up for social justice. He gave the appearance of an intelligent and productive member of the society who has left a lasting contribution. He didn’t walk like these punks, he didn’t have to prove anything boasting that he got shot 9 times. Rather he was known for what he stood for and represented and died for that.
Now I wonder why they killed Malcolm X and after his death call him a racist and a hatemonger and yet when Tupac died he is like a matyr to many and 50 cent who represents the dregs of humanity is praised and is presented on the media as the ideal for a ghetto youth.
It is obvious, they didn’t want someone as intelligent and eloquent as Malcolm to hold the streets. He had the streets of ghettos around the world waiting on his order. It is because Malcolm was a man who was respectable and represented what a ghetto youth can be. A man who spoke properly, respected the opposite sex and was polite and gentlemanly.
As for those fools what do they represent? They represent making money at all costs when Malcolm represented integrity. They represent destroying people by their Music when Malcolm represented upliftment through his speeches. They represent the disrespect of women while Malcolm had the utmost respect for women.
These days 50 cent has the streets: Oh he is speaking about my situation many say. I say he is taking your money and destroying your communities. He doesn’t represent, neither did Tupac or Biggy. They are as Malcolm said a bunch of Uncle Tom house Negroes who sing and dance for their master’s amusement.
